PRESENTER

Ms. Yu Qin has been teaching Chinese in both private and public primary schools since 2008, working across Queensland and South Australia. She is dedicated to teaching Chinese to students from Reception to Year 6/7.

Ms. Qin is deeply passionate about traditional Chinese culture, Chinese medicine, nature, and life itself. She loves her students and her work as a Chinese language teacher. Outside of teaching, she enjoys gardening, practicing yoga, and playing the guzheng—hobbies that bring balance and joy to her life.

Ms. Qin hopes her students will be exposed to diverse cultures and perspectives from an early age. Through learning Chinese, she aims to help them understand the essence of traditional Chinese culture, and grow into individuals who are healthier, kinder, and more motivated in their life journey.

WORKSHOP INTRODUCTION

In Ms. Qin’s Chinese classroom, students might stretch their tired toes with a fun exercise, or create food platters inspired by the principles of Yin and Yang. They learn how to address family members through a reimagined version of the story The Tadpoles Looking for Their Mother, and they visit the Adelaide Zoo to draw giant pandas.

To see the fruits of their Chinese language and cultural learning, you can watch the children proudly present the fruits and flowers they’ve grown themselves—or even taste organic fruit freshly picked from Ms. Qin’s own orchard.

Let’s step into Ms. Qin’s Chinese classroom and discover how she guides her students not only in learning the language, but also in experiencing the depth of Chinese culture, understanding themselves, observing life, and developing a love for nature.
