In Memory of Kathy Purvis

It is with deep sadness that the Chinese Language Teachers’ Association of South Australia acknowledges the passing of Kathy Purvis on 21 May 2023.


Kathy joined the CLTASA Committee in 2008 and served the Association with great dedication for 14 years. She also served as Co-President for two consecutive terms, from 2017 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2019, before concluding her service on the Committee in October 2022.


Kathy was a highly respected and valued member of CLTASA. Through her generosity and unwavering commitment to education, she made a significant contribution to the Association and to the broader Chinese language education community.


Her passing is a profound loss to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. We will remember Kathy not only for her outstanding service, but also for the warmth, kindness and encouragement she extended to her colleagues.


CLTASA extends its deepest condolences to Kathy’s family, friends and colleagues. Her contribution to Chinese language education in South Australia will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Following Kathy’s passing, CLTASA prepared a commemorative plaque, flowers and a memorial booklet to honour her life and contribution. These were presented as a gesture of respect and gratitude on behalf of the Association and the wider Chinese language teaching community.
